Genetix Announces Acquisition of SlidePath
- Strengthens Offering for Digital Pathology Market
New Milton, Hampshire, UK, 11th May 2009 –
Genetix, a leading provider of solutions for imaging and intelligent image
analysis, has announced its acquisition of SlidePath Ltd. SlidePath’s expertise
in analysis and data management software complements Genetix’ existing strengths
and accelerates the Company’s position in the growing digital pathology market.
Digital pathology is the management and interpretation of high resolution images
taken of tissue samples. These samples are mounted onto glass slides, scanned,
converted into digital images to create an electronic record of each specimen.
Digitized slides can then be managed and viewed online, enabling pathologists to
analyze and share sample images between sites and to examine them remotely.
SlidePath’s key offerings include:

– Complete pathology resource for online training and teaching to facilitate

SlidePath’s expertise in the analysis, management and web-enabled viewing of
tissue samples perfectly complements Genetix’ existing capabilities within its
Ariol® platform. Ariol is a digital imaging and analysis solution for the
quantification of biomarkers in tissue sections and tissue microarrays.
