Lab21 team strengthened by new
appointment
16 November 2005:
Pharmacogenetics experts Lab21 have appointed Stephen Mathews to head up their
Pharmaceutical and Biotech Business Development team. Welcoming Stephen at the
company’s Cambridge (UK) laboratories, Scientific Operations Director Dr Stan
Tyms said: “Stephen is a skilled manager with extensive experience in scientific
and technical markets. He joins Lab21 at a stage when our testing services for
pharmaceutical research and clinical trials are second to none.”
Founded in April this year, Lab21 provides technically advanced laboratory
services that deliver real clinical insight. The company’s high level of
experience and know-how is coupled with a rapidly growing portfolio of molecular
and viral diagnostics, such as viral load and resistance profiling, plus
pharmacogenetic (PGx) and patient-profiling tests such as Cytochrome P450. All
are based on cutting edge technology. This unique combination adds value to
early stage drug development, clinical trials and regulatory processes in the
pharmaceutical and biotech industries. It can also be applied directly to
clinicians or healthcare providers to help in the treatment and monitoring of
patients. For full details of Lab21 and their product range visit

About Lab21
Lab21 – the only company of its kind in the UK
Lab21 has a vision of how technically advanced clinical testing services support
the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare providers as we move towards
personalised medicine… and how monitoring pollutants and toxins in the
environment helps minimise their damaging impact on our health.
Delivering clinical insight – rather than exclusively developing its own
technology, as many diagnostic companies do, Lab21 is assembling best-in-class
tests and technology platforms from specialist partners around the world. We add
a high level of expertise and know-how to deliver antiviral drug discovery
services plus a portfolio of cutting-edge molecular diagnostics, viral
characterisation, pharmacogenetic tests, and patient profiling.
