Pharmaceutical Profiles IP confirmed on core company technology

18 September 2007: Nottingham, UK: Following a recent challenge in the US, early clinical drug development specialist Pharmaceutical Profiles (Nottingham, UK), has successfully defended its IP on the company’s core Enterion™ technology. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has re-examined Pharmaceutical Profiles’ claims and confirmed the validity of the principle Enterion patent. In addition, with the acceptance of a continuation patent application for the US, the company has further strengthened its position.

The unique and proprietary Enterion capsule is a safe, non-invasive tool used by Pharmaceutical Profiles to gain accurate and detailed information on human gut absorption for any oral formulation. Studies using Enterion can also provide insight into issues of bioavailability and short half-life, significantly assisting the development of better formulations.

The Enterion capsule is a remote-controlled drug delivery device, able to deliver liquid or particulate formulations effectively and reliably to key parts of the gastro-intestinal tract. Its innovative design ensures that the entire contents of the capsule are deposited precisely where required. This is achieved without invasive measures, which can disrupt local physiology and affect data accuracy.
