SOLEXA TO CONDUCT TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR AT THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HUMAN GENETICS CONFERENCE

HAYWARD, Calif. and Cambridge, UK (October 27, 2005) – Solexa, Inc. (Nasdaq: SLXA) today announced it will host a technology seminar on the use of its Clonal Single-Molecule Array™ Technology at the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Human Genetics in Salt Lake City, Utah. The seminar, which will be followed by a reception, features presentations by David Bentley, Ph.D., chief scientist, and Gary Schroth, Ph.D., director of Expression Applications R&D, highlighting recent advances in product development and applications of the technology to both resequencing and expression profiling.

The Solexa Genome Analysis System is a groundbreaking new platform for genetic analysis and functional genomics.  Dramatically improving speed and reducing costs, it is suitable for a range of applications including: whole genome resequencing; expression profiling; and small RNA identification and quantification. Leveraging proprietary reversible terminators and Clonal Single Molecule Array™ technology, the Solexa Genome Analysis System has the potential to generate upwards of one billion bases of data per single run, and in the process transform the way many experiments are devised and carried out. Solexa expects to introduce its Cluster-SBS instruments in late 2005 and to begin commercial sale in 2006.

About Solexa

Solexa, Inc. is developing and preparing to commercialize a new genetic analysis instrument system which will be used to perform a range of analyses including whole genome resequencing, gene expression analysis and micro-RNA analysis. We expect Solexa’s first-generation technology to generate over a billion bases of DNA sequence per run and to enable whole genome resequencing below $100,000 per sample, making it the first platform to reach this important milestone. Solexa's longer-term goal is to reduce the cost of human re-sequencing to a few thousand dollars for use in a wide range of applications from basic research through clinical diagnostics. The Company expects to introduce its first instrument system by the end of 2005.  For further information, please visit www.solexa.com.
