SCIpharm 2006 – poster submissions closing 17 November 2005: Just a few weeks remain in which pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic researchers can submit a poster for SCIpharm 2006. The event takes place 14-17 May 2006 in Edinburgh, Scotland. SCIpharm 2006 will feature an extensive poster session integrated within the exhibition and the presentations areas.

January 2006 Content of Submission SCI welcome submissions from delegates, to the SCIpharm Organising Committee, to be considered for inclusion in the programme. Posters should focus on new scientific or technical knowledge relevant to drug discovery and development but should avoid promotional material. This call for posters is open to all researchers involved in any aspect of modern pharmaceutical R&D. SCIpharm 2006 has a multi-track format covering diverse topics such as Gene to Screen; Screen to Candidate; Candidate to Drug; and Where Science Meets Business. The SCI encourages private and public organisations, large and small enterprises, established researchers and students alike to submit their work. Companies wishing to present more than one poster may submit one per attendee and these may be situated on adjacent boards. Abstracts must be accompanied with a completed discounted conference registration form. Why Submit a Poster The SCIpharm Organising Committee recognise the effort necessary to prepare top quality posters and have consequently arranged for the following benefits to researchers submitting a poster: they will be eligible for several categories of Prizes including best student poster and best corporate poster; their poster will be cited; receive a £50 discount off registration; have their poster exposed to more than 1,000 top executives from pharmaceutical, biotech, academia, investment and the media; their abstract will be published in the SCIpharm 2006 Book of Abstracts; qualification for the New Investigators Programme for new entries into the industry; priority consideration for any oral presentation slots that become available; and gain entry to the Entrepreneurs Lunch on Tuesday 16 May. Discounts are provided to attendees submitting a poster and to SCI members. In addition student places are heavily subsidised to encourage new entrants to the industry. Displaying of Posters Posters for the SCIpharm 2006 scientific poster session will be integrated within the exhibition with a variety of prizes being awarded during the event. Poster sessions will take place on Monday and Tuesday evenings directly after the close of the main conference sessions. Poster sessions will be accompanied by drink receptions. Poster prizes will be announced at the Gala Dinner on Tuesday evening. How to Submit To submit a poster, please email a copy of your abstract (approximately 250 words but no longer than one page) to scipharm@soci.org and we will advise you by 24th January of acceptance into the programme. New for SCIpharm in 2006 is the New Investigators Programme – the event attracts many experienced pharmaceutical researchers as well as newcomers to the field. The SCIpharm Organising Committee recognised the importance of building networks for both groups, and the New Investigators Programme will assist newcomers make the most of the conference. Registration in the programme is free and has the following benefits: New Investigators welcome drinks on Sunday 14th May prior to the main reception and will allow the opportunity to meet the SCIpharm organisers and speakers; introductions to delegates in your fields of interest and research; and entrance to a “careers in pharma” lunch on Monday 15th May. To register as a new investigator, individuals are asked to tick the box on the registration form and they will be asked to fill in an additional form following registration to outline their areas of interest. As well as the conference presentations and poster programme, ample networking opportunities and a lively trade exhibition offer delegates the opportunity to meet with a wide range of colleagues and suppliers to the industry, with a full programme of events taking place in the exhibition hall.
