Thrombotargets Corp. Announces the Membership of Its New Scientific
Advisory Board
Thrombotargets Corp. announces the incorporation of Dr. Mackman, Dr.
Patterson, Dr. Badimon and Dr. Lamster to its Scientific Advisory Board
Durham, North Caroline, June 1, 2007 - Thrombotargets Corp., a privately
owned biotech company focused on the development of new drug candidates and
technologies on the field of hemostasia, today announced the membership of its
new Scientific Advisory Board. The Scientific Advisory Board members have been
selected for their expertise on hemostasia, especially by their knowledge of
vascular biology, coagulation diseases management, and dental procedure
treatment of coagulation disease patients.

Ph.D., the Scientific Consultant Assistant of Thrombotargets Corp. “The
scientific insight and expertise they incorporate to our company will hugely
help us on the development of our innovative technologies and drug candidates,
specially TT-103MH, our Orphan Drug Designated antihemorrhagic protein”.
The four members of Thrombotargets’ Scientific Advisory Board are:
Nigel Mackman, PhD, is a vascular biology authority, and a worldwide
expert on Tissue Factor. He is Professor of Medicine, Division of Haematology
/Oncology, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Mackman was born
in Leicester, England. He graduated in Biological Sciences by the University of
Leicester, England in 1981, where he obtained the doctorate degree in Molecular
Biology in 1985. From 1984 to 1987 Dr. Mackman served as post-doc research
fellow, University of Leicester, England. The same year he moved to the Dept. of
Immunology, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA and worked as a
Research fellow till 1989 and later on he served there as Associate Professor,
Dept. of Immunology, till 2002. From 2002 to 2007 Dr. Mackman was Associate
Professor with tenure, Depts. of Immunology & Cell Biology, The Scripps Research
Institute, La Jolla, CA.
Cam Patterson, M.D., F.A.C.C. is Ernest and Hazel Craige Distinguished
Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, Chief of the Division of Cardiology and
Director of the Carolina Cardiovascular Biology Center, at the University of
North Carolina, Chapell Hill. He graduated in Psychology by the Vanderbilt
University, in 1985, and obtained his Doctorate in Medicine by the Emory
University School of Medicine in 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served
later on as resident, until 1992, and as Chief Resident, until 1993. He did his
clinical and Research fellowships first at the Cardiovascular Biology Laboratory
of the Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston,
1993 to 1996, and later on at the Cardiology Section of The University of Texas
Medical Branch at Galveston, until 1998, where he also served as Principal
Investigator of the Sealy Center for Molecular Cardiology, as Associate
Professor with tenure of the Department of Medicine (Cardiology) and as
Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.
Juan J. Badimon is a noted expert in Atherothrombosis, and more
specifically on the role of lipids, HDL and the Tissue Factor pathway in the
genesis and progression of atherosclerotic lesions as well as the clinical
manifestations of atherothrombosis. Dr. Badimon is Professor of Medicine and
Director of the Cardiovascular Biology Research Laboratory at the Cardiovascular
Institute, The Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. Dr. Badimon was born in
Barcelona, Spain. He graduated by the University of Barcelona in 1982. The same
year he moved to USA where he served as Post-doc research Fellow at Mayo Clinic
until 1984. Then he moved to Mt. Sinai New York (1984 – 1990), Massachusetts
General Hospital, Boston (1990-1994) and since 1994 he returned to Mount Sinai
School of Medicine in New York.
Ira B. Lamster, D.D.S., M.M.Sc. has extensive experience in oral health
research. Dr. Ira B. Lamster received his Doctor on Dental Surgery grade from
the State University of New York at Stony Brook (1977), his M.M.Sc. from Harvard
University (1980) and a Certificate of Special Training in Periodontology from
the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (1980). Currently, Dr. Lamster is Dean and
Professor of Dentistry at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr.
Lamster served as Director of the Division of Periodontics at Columbia from 1988
to 1998 and as Vice Dean at that institution from 1998 to 2001. In December
2006, Dr. Lamster was also named as a Vice President of Columbia University
Medical Center.
