Xention appoints medical
director

Strengthened with Clinical Development Expertise
CAMBRIDGE, UK, 6 November 2006 - XENTION LTD, an emerging
pharmaceutical company specialising in ion channel drug discovery and
development, announced today the appointment of Dr Andrew N Broughton MD MFPM
MBCPM MA as Medical Director of the Company.
Dr Broughton has previously held a variety of senior positions in clinical
development and medical affairs, most recently as European Director of Medical
Affairs for PPD Development, a US-based global clinical research organisation.
Previously he held senior medical management and product development positions
at Serono, Napp Laboratories (Purdue), Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals and
Fisons Pharmaceuticals.
Dr Broughton trained in medicine at St John’s College, Cambridge and the
Cambridge University School of Clinical Medicine and, following a hospital
based career in anaesthesia and critical care medicine, joined the
pharmaceutical industry in 1989. He has broad experience covering all aspects
of pharmaceutical medicine, with specific expertise in early phase product
development, together with a successful track record in the discovery,
development and commercialization of innovative therapeutic products. He is a
Member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal College of
Physicians (UK), the Royal College of Anaesthetists, and the Belgian College
of Pharmaceutical Medicine.
