Actos, produced by Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, Inc netted $2.5m in sales in 2009, the 9th highest in the world.

Actos is a type of thiazolidinediones, acting to increase sensitivity to Insulin. This sensitivity is lost in Type II Diabetes, the disease which Actos is prescribed for. Diabetes (Type II) is becoming increasingly common in the developed world, and may explain the high sales value of this drug.
