Becton Dickinson is one of the top 10 medical device companies in the world. It reported annual sales of just over $7 billion in 2010, and quarterly trends have seen encouraging increases.

Some of the products it supplies to the medical industry includes disposable equipment such as syringes, needles and surgical blades , as well as diagnostic tools such as devices for sampling blood and for disease screening.

The company is furthering its work in bacterial and fungal identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing, through a collaboration with Bruker Daltonics.
