Singulair, the brand name for montelukast sodium, is produced by Merck & Co., Inc. Its annual sales in 2009 were $3m, ranking it 7th in the world.
Singulair acts by blocking leukotrienes, to reduce to reaction of the body to allergic substances. It is used in the treatment of asthma (to prevent attacks) and the relive the symptoms of allergies (such as hayfever and animals). It can be used in pediatric cases.
