Many questions in the legal system can be answered using scientific techniques. These are termed forensics.
Examples inlcude fingerprint recognition, DNA databases, iris (eye) indentification and identification of suspects through samples of fliud, skin or hair.
It has a very important role in modern legal systems, and has provided some pivitol evidence in many cases.
