Latin America - Biotech, Pharma and Life Science Channel

02:51 EDT 23rd May 2013 | BioPortfolio

Latin America encompasses the Caribbean, South America and Central America. These countries are important players in the biotechnology industry, not only as consumers, but as contributors.

The environmental, agriculture and rural biotechnology industry is very active, within this region, due to the natural resources here.

The large populations here and the potential of the tropical rain forests to hold future treatments help promote the healthcare aspect of the industry. The Latin America Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Association (LBPA ) supports this. Current produce from this region is quality but low-cost healthcare solutions for the region, and current developments include monoclonal cancer antibodies by Recepta Biooharma, recombinant proteins from Coinfar and stem cells solutions from Cryopraxis.
