Melanoma - Biotech, Pharma and Life Science Channel
Melanoma is a highly malignant tumor of melanin-forming cells (melanocytes)
There are most commonly found in the skin (resulting from sunlight exposure), but also in the eyes and mucous membranes. Metastasis to other regions of the body is also common.
Vaccines are being developed as an immunotherapy, as chemotherapy has not proven successful.

Iris Neoplasms
Tumors of the iris characterized by increased pigmentation of melanocytes. Iris nevi are composed of proliferated melanocytes and are associated with neurofibromatosis and malignant melanoma of the choroid and ciliary body. Malignant melanoma of the iris often originates from preexisting nevi.
