Tropical Medicine is the study of diseases more commonly found in tropical regions than elsewhere. Examples of these diseases are malaria, yellow fever, Chagas disease, Dengue, Helminths, African trypanosomiasis, Leishmaniasis, Leprosy, Lymphatic filariasis, Onchocerciasis and Schistosomiasis. They are of great importance, because of the high proportion of the population that live in these regions, and the lack of adequate health care provisions in these areas allows the diseases to prosper.
