LICA Pharmaceuticals A/S is a new Danish Biopharmaceutical Research and Development company. It was founded in April 2000. The company’s mission is to develop and commercialize novel and unique compounds for the treatment of bacterial and parasitic diseases. The company owns promising internationally acknowledged intellectual proprietary rights on novel chalcone-based compounds and their use as well as research data and know-how on target molecules for these compounds.
The company's chalcone-based compounds which are syntesized in-house have proven unique effects against several microorganisms, such as bacteria and parasites, causing widespread diseases such as hospital-acquired infections, gastric ulcer and malaria. The company’s work plan involves synthesis, lead optimization of the promising chalcones and selection of the most appropriate compounds to be carried through pre-clinical and clinical Phase I and II studies. Ownership by Lica Pharmaceuticals of the novel compounds, their use and the technology is protected by several wide-ranging patent applications and issued patents.
