MethylGene Incorporated Company Profile

17:52 EDT 23rd September 2017 | BioPortfolio

MethylGene is engaged in the discovery and development of drugs for diseases for which there are currently limited or no treatments. Research on the Company's first target, the DNA Methyltransferase enzyme, has yielded a unique anti-cancer drug presently in Phase I clinical trials. Several other targets are being investigated, including HDAC (histone deacetylase) and ER-1 (early response gene) for cancer as well as ß-Lactamase for infectious diseases. With in vivo evidence of efficacy, discoveries have notably given rise to a novel class of small molecule ß-Lactamase inhibitor which may aid in the fight against antibiotic resistance; while on the cancer front, small molecule HDAC inhibitors are showing promise. With its solid biology and chemistry platforms, MethylGene is entering the 21st century with a dedication to improving people's health and quality of life.
