Modex Therapeutics is a publicly listed Swiss biotechnology company that is developing therapeutic products for the treatment of skin wounds and skin diseases. Founded in 1996, Modex originally focused on the development of two cell-based technologies - EpiDex™ and BioDelivery. Recognizing new opportunities in dermatology, Modex is expanding its product development pipeline to include new therapeutic agents for the treatment of a wide range of skin diseases.
The focus on dermatology, with its large unmet medical needs, is a natural progression for Modex and is founded on the success of EpiDex™, a groundbreaking product for the treatment of hard-to-heal chronic skin ulcers. Core competences in biotechnology and strengths in clinical development enable Modex to develop innovative products for the treatment of skin disorders and disease. The goal is to become a leading dermatology company by progressively establishing a product pipeline for diverse indications.
Modex currently employs 55 people. The company has research, product development and manufacturing laboratories at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, and at its subsidiary in Leipzig, Germany. The company raised CHF 74 million (US$ 43 million) in June 2000 in an initial public offering. Registered shares of Modex Therapeutics (MDXN) are traded on the SWX New Market.
