Founded in 1998 by scientists from The Salk Institute and The University of California, San Diego, SoftMax, Inc. finds its origins in the field of computational neurobiology. SoftMax has taken this exploration of how the brain functions and applied some of its insights to develop innovative, adaptive and practical solutions to solve real-world problems. SoftMax’s platform technology, called SoftMax Signal Separation or S^3, has received substantial attention due to its potential applications in signal separation including in speech signal processing, biomedical data analysis, image and video analysis and compression, and large-scale data mining of information. SoftMax, Inc. is developing solutions for enhanced interfaces between humans and machines. The company’s proprietary signal separation technology enables digital processing devices to separate individual signal components out of complex mixtures. The wide spectrum of commercial applications for SoftMax’s technology includes audio signal processing, biomedical data analysis, image and video processing, electromagnetic spectral analysis and large-scale data mining, or other applications where complex signals are the norm.
