Started in beginning of 2002, Professor Ona's laboratory develops original theories, instruments and applications concerning human health, ES cell differentiation, aquaculture, environment and food security. The research achievements except above are as follows.1. Non-invasive prediction of next or final differentiation status of ES cell at the initiation by HP-SPR2. Non-destructive and rapid (1 h) selection of shellfish with high temperature resistant in sea water by HP-SPR3. Non-destructive and rapid (5 sec) ultra high sensitive detection (ppt level) or count for human health, and environment and food security (dioxins, pesticides, peptide, amino acid, melamine, uric acid and heavy metal solutions or bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus) by Cavity Mirror enhanced Raman Spectroscopy based on nanotechnology without using a microscope
