Dermatology is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders (Oxford Medical Dictionary).

As well as studying how the skin works, dermatology covers a range of diseases including skin allergies, alopecia, Behcet's Syndrome, Porphyria, Bullous Pemphigoid, Congenital Melanocytic Naevus, epidermolysis bullosa, Ectodermal Dysplasia, Ehlers-Danlos, Gorlin Syndrome,  Hailey-Hailey disease, Herpes, Hidradenitis Suppurativa, Hyperhidrosis, Ichthyosis, Leprosy, Lupus,  Marfan, Mastocytosis, 
Myositis, Eczema,  Pachyonychia Congenita, Pemphigus Vulgaris, Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum (PXE) and Psoriasis.

There are a number of cancers that can affect the skin aswell such as lymphomas and melanomas.
