Good planning can maximise the benefits of CME, avoid missing important opportunities and ensure CME is supported , created and present responsibly.  On the other hand poor planning can lead to delays and tension between CME accreditation bodies, faculty members and education provides and can even damage the reputation of companies.

Developing and delivering effective CME requires in-depth knowledge about how CME operates and keeping abreast of a wide range of rapidly moving guidelines.
