ConcussionConcussion, or mild traumatic brain injury , is the most common and least serious type of traumatic brain injury. Patients with concussion experience altered mental function but usually recover within three weeks, though in some cases symptoms persist. Thought to be milder type of diffuse axonal injury, concussion involves a transient loss of brain function. It can be caused by acceleration or deceleration forces, or by a direct blow. The most common mental faculties to be affected by concussion include memory, speed of information processing and reaction to stimuli, and attention.[ (From the Wikpedia article Concussion.)] Download PDF containing detailed information.
