DiscoveryDossiers are high impact product analyses produced by LeadDiscovery’s industrial experts for industry in order to expedite out-licensing or joint-venture options. Our e-commerce skills enable dossiers to reach appropriate contacts within other biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies. If you use our DiscoveryDossier service, production of your dossier will proceed through 3 stages:

  • Dossier production is billed by the hour. Estimates will be provided prior to commencing work. Once we have received a work request form, dossier production will commence. Dossiers will be produced to address key industrial criteria - please see below. Dossiers can be confidential (subject to signing appropriate CDAs) or non-confidential. LeadDiscovery does not demand a success based commission or any form of partnership option (although such arrangements are available if requested by the client). You will only be billed in the event that you are satisfied with the final dossier

  • Dossier circulation is offered as a complimentary service to all companies requesting our dossier production service. Since our conceptualization we have built contacts within the business development department of over 500 companies around the world. Our on-line presence knocks down geographical barriers and consequently 50% of companies targeted with completed dossiers are US based and 30% are European. Contacts at over 500 companies will receive e-mail alerts linking through to an abstract of your dossier. Personnel reading this abstract will have open access to non-confidential dossiers via our web site. Your company will be responsible for circulating confidential dossiers unless other arrangements have been made with LeadDiscovery.

  • Post-circulation support is a valued part of our service. If a company requires further information or they would like to open negotiations with your company they have the option of contacting LeadDiscovery or your company directly - see Pharmaceutical Solutions below. All feedback received by us will be immediately forwarded to you. LeadDiscovery does not play an active role in negotiations unless specifically requested by your company. In this instance we have experience in producing detailed proposals. Product development is a continuous process and to reflect this DiscoveryDossiers are "living" documents. Dossiers are updated and re-circulated each time you provide us with significant additional information. In addition, our aims are to form a close relationship with our clients and in doing so we develop a good understanding of our client's research. This places us in an excellent position to offer our preclinical drug development experience so as to optimize the advancement of therapeutic candidates. Although the production of a dossier makes it considerably easier for us to advise on product development this is not a prerequisite.

Key Industry Criteria

Taking advantage of the internet your dossier will include high quality graphics and links to additional resources (websites, medline abstracts, patents etc), and furthermore it will be in a form immediately accessible to a large number of personnel.

By addressing the following 9 criteria our dossiers are designed for success:

  1. Will your dossier be read? Long tracts of uninteresting, unclear or poorly presented text will not be read or they will put the reader in a negative state of mind. Dossiers avoid this problem by being visually appealing, clearly and succinctly written.

    Has your research emerged from a field-leading lab? Commercial potential is boosted if research has originated in a field-leading laboratory so we will highlight the track record of the study authors and your institution in general. Dossiers are linked through to appropriate web pages.

    Is your research novel and supported by a strong proof of concept? Dossiers will highlight the novelty and strength of concept of your research in a background section. Dossiers will underline which clinical conditions stand to benefit from your research and how. These issues will be addressed concisely and targeted to a mixed background of expertise. Links to medline abstracts will be used to access more detailed information when required.

    Are key data clearly presented? A common complaint from industry is that proposals include too much data. Dossiers will therefore focus on the most important data (eg receptor affinity, potency in pathophysiological models....) and where possible use well presented graphics or tables. Data should be put in context. For example if you have synthesized specific molecules, dossiers will compare their activity to that of reference compounds where possible.
     

  2. Is your research under patent protection? If your research has been patented dossiers will link through to the patent.

    What is the size of the market? Dossiers will describe the size of the market that could benefit from your research. This is important since some companies specialize in niche markets while others will only contemplate large markets.

    Could your research generate products with advantages over the competition? Dossiers will identify products on the market or in advanced development that are relevant to your research. Dossiers will also describe how products arising from your research may have advantages over these products.

    Is there a clear route to the clinic? Research is obviously dynamic. Personnel that frequently receive proposals will easily identify gaps in development. On their way towards the clinic research projects often require the generation of in vivo pathophysiological data, comparisons with reference compounds, route of action information or duration of action studies. Dossiers will analyze your research and identify future directions. Highlighting future studies is not negative - instead it clearly identifies a route to the clinic. At best collaborative agreements can be established to expedite these studies - at worse companies can request you recontact them once studies have been completed.
     

  3. Would collaboration be mutually beneficial? Dossiers will suggest the nature of a possible collaboration without destroying interest through unreasonable demands or by being too specific. A simple on-line route for feedback will be provided .

In order to succeed, it is becoming increasingly important for academic institutions and emerging biotechs to form partnerships within the drug development community. This can only be done if appropriate personnel within the pharmaceutical industry are aware of the full potential of your work - this can be difficult as it requires a thorough understanding of industrial criteria and a good network within the industry.
