3D Molecular Sciences shortlisted for Business Weekly East of England Business Awards
28 January 2003, Cambridge,
UK… 3D Molecular Sciences has been shortlisted for the Innovation in Biotech category in the Business Weekly East of England Business Awards. The company was invited by Business Weekly to participate in the annual awards on the basis of having developed a new, innovative BioMEMS technology with applications in biotech and pharma for multiplexing.
3D Molecular Sciences has designed a new system for performing large-scale simultaneous and parallel bioassay analysis using individually coded particles compatible with a diverse range of assays including nucleic acids and cytokines. The Company’s technology platform offers an inexpensive and flexible tool to the pharmaceutical, biotech and clinical diagnostic industries that allows for a superior volume of tests, a scaleable capability and multiplexing of samples. It has the potential to screen for gene-linked diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, obesity and cystic fibrosis. It can also offer great possibilities in compound library screening, environmental monitoring and in anti-terrorism systems.
Dr Elizabeth Hill, 3D Molecular Sciences’ CEO, said, “We are delighted to have been selected for this leading regional business to business annual competition. 3D Molecular Sciences has been shortlisted for the final awards following a series of stringent selection procedures, a great achievement in itself as this year's awards have attracted record number of applicants. This positions the Company as a clear leader in its field globally and a recognised innovator within the Cambridge region.”
This year's Business Weekly East of England Business Awards are sponsored by, among others, the London Stock Exchange, the East of England Development Agency, and a leading international law firm Mills & Reeve. The winners of the awards will be announced 25 February.
