Research Borean Pharma appoints John Nieland as VP Preclinical Aarhus, Denmark, May 26, 2005 - Borean Pharma A/S, the biopharmaceutical and protein engineering company, today announced that it has appointed Dr. John D. Nieland as VP Preclinical Research. Dr. Nieland was previously Director of Research at MediGene AG. Previous to that he was Group Leader of Immunology, heading all immunology projects for MediGene including assay development for testing and improving of tumor vaccines. Welcoming Dr. Nieland, Dr Johanna Holldack, CEO of Borean Pharma commented: “John brings more than 20 years of experience in immunology and nine years experience of small molecule and biological therapeutic development in the industry. We look forward to his contribution as we move the Company on to its next stage.” Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Nieland said: “I am delighted to be taking on this new role and look forward to helping Borean as it moves antibody analogues through proof of concept as new therapeutics for diseases of unmet clinical need.” Dr Nieland completed a thesis on immune tolerance in autoimmune diseases and oncology and then embarked on postdoctoral training at the Loyola University in Chicago where he set up a new lab performing research on tumor disease development and treatment in animal models and patients. He is has been instrumental in numerous patent applications.
