The case for early ADME-TOX Drug discovery seminar programme launched by CXR Biosciences 29 July 2003.
A
series of half-day seminars is being organised by innovative pre-clinical
specialists, CXR Biosciences (Dundee, Scotland) and sponsored by
Bio-Dundee (part of the Biotech Scotland initiative). These will outline
how and why integrating the new generation of faster, more relevant
ADME-TOX models into early-stage lead selection and screening makes
scientific and commercial sense for all drug discovery companies. Most
‘big pharma’ already considers early-stage ADME-TOX crucial to their
in-house discovery programmes. Naturally, they are looking for the same data
from potential partners. The
first seminars will take place on 16, 17 and 18 September 2003 in London, Oxford
and Cambridge, respectively. Participants will hear the founding CXR scientists
and a keynote speaker from a major pharmaceutical company, in a programme
designed to stimulate and inform senior drug discovery scientists and managers
from biotech and ‘emerging pharma’ in this increasingly important area. To

ends About CXR
Biosciences: CXR
is a Dundee based company focused on applying the latest molecular and genetic
techniques to accelerate drug development, reduce product attrition and
“rescue”, where appropriate, molecules with unexplained toxicological
observations. This is achieved by developing innovative approaches to improve
the predictability and relevance to man of preclinical models. The
company occupies a state of the art laboratory facility in the Dundee Technopole
in Scotland and is built on the decades of experience in preclinical development
of its founders, Professor Roland Wolf, and Dr. Cliff Elcombe, of Dundee
University. CXR has several research collaborations with pharmaceutical and
biotechnology companies to provide novel models, assays and screens for use in
preclinical development. The company also provides specialist contract services
in many areas of preclinical development. About
Bio-Dundee: Working
as part of the Biotech Scotland initiative, Bio-Dundee promotes supports and
stimulates the partnership between public, private and academic organisations in
