Development of a new Generation of Diagnostic Nano-Sensors
Berlin/Hamburg (June 29, 2004) - During the 7th International Conference on Nanostructured Materials in Mid-June in Wiesbaden Nanosolutions GmbH, Hamburg, and Capsulution NanoScience AG, Berlin, agreed upon a strategic co-operation.

The mid-term goal of the co-operation is the development of a new generation of multifunctional nano-sensors for in vitro diagnostic applications. This covers in particular the development of sensors in the shape of hollow capsules. Their nanometre-thin walls are to be equipped with various functional nano-particles. In the long-term both companies envisage that the partnership will provide valuable contributions in combining diagnostics and therapy in the development of personalised medicines. The companies plan to release their first joint diagnostic product on the market within a year's time.

"Due to technological synergies and the geographic vicinity between both our companies a broadly-based strategic partnership was an obvious step to make," said Dr. Stephan Haubold, founder and Managing Director of Nanosolutions. He added: "The channelling of our resources and the focussing of activities associates with this move will give both companies substantial added impetus."

Alexander Herrmann, CFO of Capsulution, added: "With this co-operation we gain considerable competitive edge leaving us even better positioned to address our industry customer's needs."
