Cobra Biomanufacturing appoints Cathy Smith to strengthen North America Sales Keele,

– Cobra Biomanufacturing Plc (London Stock Exchange AIM) has appointed Cathy
Smith to the new role of Vice President, Business Development. Cathy joins Cobra
from her most recent position as Sales Manager at Cambrex Biopharmaceuticals,
Baltimore, MD and Hopkinton, MA and brings over 5 years of sales, marketing and
business development experience. She is based in San Francisco, California and
will be responsible for further positioning Cobra as a leading manufacturer of
biopharmaceuticals on the West Coast of USA. “We are delighted that an individual of Cathy’s calibre has joined Cobra. I anticipate that she will make a valuable contribution in our drive to expand our North American customer base. Importantly, our North American customers will benefit from her wealth of experience in biomanufacturing,” commented Dr David Thatcher, CEO, Cobra. Cathy has worked in the USA for several leading international biotechnology companies. Most recently at Cambrex Biopharmaceuticals she received the Cambrex Biopharmaceuticals Outstanding Sales Achievement Award in 2002. Previous to Cambrex, she was at Chiron Corporation, Emeryville, California as a Manager of Manufacturing Business Development. Prior to Chiron, Cathy held positions at Berlex Biosciences of Richmond, California (a wholly owned subsidiary of Schering AG, Germany). Commenting on her appointment at Cobra, Cathy said: “I am delighted to join Cobra as part of their sales team at an exciting time in the Company’s expansion. Cobra has recently increased its recombinant protein cGMP manufacturing capabilities to better serve the North American market by opening a new world class facility in Oxford, UK.
