CORDIA 2003

EuropaBio and Partners announce preview programme for

Europe’s first International biotech convention

16th June, 2003: The organisers of CORDIA - EuropaBio Convention 2003, have today announced the preliminary conference programme, including keynote plenary speakers and conference session Chairs for December’s conference in Vienna.  They represent an outstanding group of internationally respected and influential names in the sector.

The Opening plenary speakers will be addressing the topic of "Europe's Life Science Opportunity on a Global Stage" and will be followed by an unrivalled conference programme along five tracks covering biotech products of today and products of tomorrow, partnerships and investment business models of the future and the role of societal aspects and political leadership.  There are more than 60 parallel sessions featuring almost 400 speakers presenting on a variety of pertinent topics across healthcare, agricultural and industrial biotechnology.

From a wider perspective the key-note session within healthcare will discuss the profound impact of biotechnology on European health care systems, and in meeting patients’ unmet medical needs. In agriculture the debate will look at how a culture of innovation can successfully be fostered and the relationship between business and society developed. Taking a wider industrial perspective into account the key-note session on industrial biotechnology will look at how biotechnology is changing industrial processes in a way that is good for people, business and profit.

According to Dr. Philippe Pouletty, President of France Biotech and Chairman of the EuropaBio Emerging Enterprises Board “CORDIA 2003 will offer a forum to inform and debate issues in European biotech that has not been available before outside of the US. This conference will become an essential date in the European biotech calendar from which the industry can continue to build its international competitiveness.”

CORDIA will also offer many other opportunities to meet and to learn about the companies and the business of biotech in Europe. Through the CORDIA Partnering Forum a pre-screened selection of some of the best emerging and maturing life science companies in Europe will be show-cased by therapeutic or technology class alongside selected US companies.  Featured companies will experience an interactive session in which they will be challenged by industry experts from the panel and the floor ensuring a focused and interactive forum.  One-on-one meeting scheduling will also enable all registering CORDIA companies to benefit from the partnering forum appointment-setting system.

CORDIA also offers an international exhibition for sourcing partners and suppliers from a diverse range of global companies.
