Effect of CytoregR on Biomarkers in B16-F10 Murine Melanoma Weston, They displayed
a poster titled: “Effect of Cytoreg® on Biomarkers in B16-F10 Murine
Melanoma”. The topic is the result of a pilot study performed by Dr. Manzur
Hassanhi, MD, Senior Research Scientist of Cytorex Biosciences Inc., and Dr.
Elzbieta Izbicka of the Institute of Drug Development (IDD), This
coordinated effort enabled attendees to easily locate the posters that relate to
their areas of interest. All posters were located inside the exhibit hall. “Cytoreg®
is a novel anticancer drug candidate which uses Hydrofluoric and Sulfuric acids
as active compounds. Upon completion of an in vivo study performed under a
separate agreement, formalin preserved lung tissue with B16-F10 metastases was
provided for biomarker analysis. Quantitative analysis of Bcl-2, Bax, Smac/Diablo,
Survivin, Raf-1, and (P) Raf-1 was performed in thin sections from three
representative tumor metastases selected from the drug treatment group (.654
mg/mouse, p.o., qd x 5 to end) and the corresponding control vehicle. Two
biomarkers (Bcl-2, Smac/Diablo) were below detection limits. Cytoreg® induced
some down regulation in Bax. Biomarkers levels of Survivin and the (P)
Raf-1/Raf-1 ratios were decreased in the Cytoreg® treatment group. These
finding are consistent with the pro-apoptotic activity of the drug and the
ability of Cytoreg® to interfere with tumor signaling pathways in B16-F10 lung
metastases” according to Dr. Elzbieta Izbicka, Head of the Molecular Targets
Laboratory of IDD. Cytorex
