A NEW High
Sensitivity, Multi-species Corticosterone EIA from IMMUNODIAGNOSTIC
SYSTEMS LIMITED (IDS)
April 2005.
IDS Limited is pleased to announce the launch of Corticosterone HS
EIA for the quantitative determination of Corticosterone. The assay can be
used in multiple species and is an ideal tool for researchers
investigating metabolic status and stress levels in poultry science,
cattle/livestock, animal transportation welfare, zoo welfare and
conditions for reptiles/avian houses.
Designed to work with very low levels of Corticosterone, the assay is
simple to perform and offers excellent assay performance. An initial heat
treatment step releases corticosterone very effectively, from endogenous
binding proteins and gives a more accurate picture of the activity of the
adrenal cortex system. This initial step is followed by a standard EIA
procedure requiring less than 30 minutes hands-on time, with results
available on the same day.
The Corticosterone EIA offers good accuracy and precision (Intra-assay
<10%, Inter-assay <15%). The assay is highly sensitive, 0.15 ng/mL serum
or plasma, with a convenient working range of 0.3-20 ng/mL, and requires a
sample volume of only 100 L for duplicate determination, even less if the
sample is to be diluted, making it ideal for small animals and low volume
samples.
It is now possible to accurately and precisely measure Corticosterone in a
simple, convenient EIA, with the benefit of long shelf life and
eliminating the use of radioactive reagents. The kit is available in a 96
well format to accommodate the needs of most research laboratories.
The Corticosterone HS EIA complements another key marker of the
hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, the IDS Pro-OpioMelanoCortin (POMC)
ELISA, and adds to the existing IDS range of EIA’s and the growing range
of Pre-clinical products currently available from IDS.
