Innovadyne Technologies granted key patent on core technology

Friday, 8 April 2005 Innovadyne Technologies, Inc (Santa Rosa, USA) has announced that it has been granted US patent number 6,852,291, "Hybrid Valve Apparatus and Method for Fluid Handling". The patent covers Innovadyne's core technology and the liquid handling design found in most of the company’s products.

Kevin Barrett, President, Innovadyne Technologies, commented: “A strong IP position is extremely important – both for us and for our customers. This patent, on aspects of our core technology, is the first in a series we expect to be granted in the near future.”

Innovadyne’s novel design ensures the isolation of dispense actuators from reagents and samples, greatly enhancing reliability and performance. The resulting system architecture is particularly robust, enabling a variety of fluid types and a wide range of volumes to be dispensed with excellent precision and accuracy. Using non-contact, solenoid-based dispense technology, Innovadyne platforms can deliver 1 µL of reagent to a 1536 format in less than 12 seconds. Low dead-volume and the aspirate-and-dispense design make the instrument ideal for both screening and assay development.
