Peakdale share issue to staff exceeds expectations
Chapel-en-le-Frith, UK, 22nd August
2005 – Peakdale Molecular has announced the outstanding
success of its share offer to employees which raised more than double the
expected amount. The investment is being used to expand its medicinal
chemistry expertise and to establish in-house expertise in computational
chemistry, complementing Peakdale’s innovative chemistry know-how and rapidly
identifying novel active compounds with drug potential.
Kimberley Morrison, CEO of Peakdale, commented,
“The outstanding uptake of shares really shows the belief and commitment of
our employees. The share offer was opened in May and by early June we had
reached more than twice our original target. More than 50% of staff members
invested, covering all areas of the business.” Kim added, “This exceptional

With computational chemistry facilities in-house,
Peakdale will build on its existing Peakexplorer™ libraries for drug
discovery, originally developed with computational expertise from partner
organisations. Initially Peakdale develop pharmacophore models using
information about how known active compounds bind to protein targets. These
models, combined with the expertise of Peakdale’s synthetic chemists and the
sophisticated computer modelling of computational chemistry, allow the design
of novel libraries of compounds with drug-like properties. The current focus
in research at Peakdale is on developing Kinase libraries, as they have huge
potential for treatment in many diseases including cancer.
