Peakdale collaborates with Dynamic Extractions on new purification technology

Chapel-en-le-Frith, UK, 11th May 2005 – Peakdale Molecular and Dynamic Extractions (DE) have announced their collaboration on a new technology for the efficient purification of new chemical compounds and potential drug targets. Together with Peakdale’s unique chemistry, the technology can be used to isolate gram to kilogram quantities of novel compounds in a very short timeframe, in many cases replacing expensive and time-consuming chromatography technologies.

Based on countercurrent chromatography (CCC), DE has significantly improved the technology to provide a reliable and rapid alternative to traditional purification methods such as HPLC and flash chromatography. As well as high throughput purification the technology also allows trouble free scaling up from analytical to manufacturing processes.

Commenting on the collaboration, Kimberley Morrison, CEO of Peakdale, said “Peakdale is known for its innovation, so we are delighted to be working with Dynamic Extractions to offer our customers this new and more efficient separation technology. We are now able to produce and scale up compounds in very high purity, faster and easier than ever.” Peakdale and DE have already put the collaboration to practice on a confidential project. In less than four months, more than 1kg of drug candidate was purified, allowing Peakdale to successfully scale up the chemical synthesis despite a late stage purification issue.

David Keay, CEO from Dynamic Extractions added, “The rapid and efficient purification of drug-like compounds is an essential step in many drug discovery projects in the pharmaceutical industry. Our technology fits extremely well with Peakdale’s chemistry know-how and expertise in custom synthesis and provides customers with further efficiencies in this stage of the drug discovery process. This collaboration gives us the opportunity to show the efficiency, speed and reliability of our purification system and will help us to introduce this technology to pharmaceutical customers.”
