Proteome Systems awarded prestigious Technology Innovation Award Sydney, Australia, 18 November,
2003 – Proteome Systems announced today that it has been awarded the
prestigious Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award in the Proteomics
Automation Market for 2003. The Frost & Sullivan Market
Engineering Award for Technology Innovation is awarded to the company that has
demonstrated technological superiority within its industry. This award
recognizes the ability of the company to successfully develop and introduce new
technology, formulate a well-designed product family, and make significant
contributions to product performance in the industry. Proteome systems recently
introduced its intelligent electrophoresis platform, comprising two innovative
and fully integrated systems, IsoelectrIQ2Ô
and ElectrophoretIQ3Ô.
These systems define a new generation of technology for electrophoresis,
combining novel separation processes with cutting edge industrial design and
modern information technology. Together, this gives proteomics researchers easy
access to sophisticated protein separation and array solutions.
The novel chemical printer (ChIPÔ),
also recently released and with a granted US patent, offers researchers a
revolutionary new approach to automatic protein processing, identification and
characterisation. Developed in conjunction with Shimadzu Biotech, ChIP is a
unique technology platform for executing micro-scale on-membrane chemistry that
will have widespread applications in biomedical research and biomarker
discovery. Frost and Sullivan also noted the
excellence of ProteomIQÔ,
Proteome Systems’ integrated platform for proteomics. This platform combines
Proteome Systems technology in sample preparation, protein separation, protein
processing and bioinformatics with mass spectrometers and enterprise-level
computers from alliance partners. Installations of this platform deliver a
comprehensive and extensively integrated platform for advanced, high resolution
proteomics. Keith Williams, Chief Executive
Officer and Executive Chairman commented "our technology has been developed
by practitioners of proteomics, specifically for proteome research, and has been
rigorously tested in our in-house projects in cystic fibrosis, cancer,
infectious diseases and aging. Our ability to road test this technology in our
demanding in-house discovery programs sets us apart from other vendors.
We are honoured to be recognized for our innovation in the field of
proteomics through the receipt of this prestigious award.” About Proteome Systems Proteome Systems is a leading
proteomics technology, diagnostics and discovery company. With its technology
partners, Proteome Systems has developed and commercialised ProteomIQ, a
comprehensive solution for high throughput proteomics. These technologies,
integrated by a proprietary and sophisticated bioinformatics system,
BioinformatIQÔ,
are being marketed as part of a global strategic alliance with IBM. ProteomIQ is
installed in laboratories in the USA and Japan, and implemented in Proteome
Systems' discovery programs in the areas of cystic fibrosis, cancer, infectious
disease and aging. Proteome Systems has R&D and manufacturing facilities in
Sydney, Australia and Boston, USA and joint ventures with Itochu Corporation in
Tokyo, Japan (Proteome Systems Japan) and Charles River Laboratories, USA
(Charles River Proteomics Services Inc.). For more information about Proteome
