Appointment Of Three New Members Of Senior Management
Team
13th January 2004. RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. Drug discovery and development company SCYNEXIS, Inc. has announced three new senior management appointments as the company prepares for its next phase of growth and expansion, according to President and Chief Executive Officer Yves Ribeill.
“The appointment of these uniquely talented and experienced individuals strengthens our ability to expand our research partnerships with the world’s top pharmaceutical companies and cutting-edge biotechnology companies,” Ribeill said.
The appointments include:
Hans Fliri, General Manager of SCYNEXIS Europe Limited. Fliri will manage SCYNEXIS’ European operations located near Cambridge, England. Fliri has more than 20 years experience in all aspects of pharmaceutical drug discovery including the management of more than 100 scientific staff and collaborations between large pharmaceutical companies and biotech start-ups. Most recently Fliri was vice president of drug discovery at Cetek Corporation. Previously he was the senior director of anti-infective discovery and lead generation at Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and later Aventis in Paris. He also held scientific management and technical roles at Novartis in Basel, Switzerland and Vienna, Austria. He has served on several scientific advisory boards for companies in Europe and the U.S. Fliri has a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Innsbruck. Fliri’s position with SCYNEXIS is a newly created role.
Charles F. (Chuck) Osborne, Jr., Chief Financial Officer. Osborne joins SCYNEXIS from pharmaceutical company Nobex Corporation in Research Triangle Park where he has served as chief financial officer. At Nobex, Osborne completed two large venture capital rounds totaling more than $60 million, including $35 million in the difficult market conditions of 2002. He also was involved in structuring and negotiating corporate licenses and research agreements with multi-national pharmaceutical companies, including with GlaxoSmithKline. He previously was vice president of finance for International Murex Technologies Company, a NASDAQ-listed medical diagnostics company. While at Murex, he ran the worldwide finance group while based in London and assisted with the successful sale of the company to Abbott Laboratories. A CPA with five years of Big Four accounting experience, Osborne is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Osborne replaces Bruce Lowery, a partner with Tatum Partners, who has held the interim chief financial officer role for several years.
Brian Schwab, Chief Licensing Officer & General Counsel. Schwab most recently has served as Deputy General Counsel for Aventis CropScience in Lyon, France where he managed a team of attorneys. His expertise is in the area of merger and acquisition, joint venture, intellectual property and licensing, public offering, corporate partnering, technology, litigation and arbitration matters. He previously served as Senior Legal Counsel for Rhone-Poulenc in Paris in a variety of joint venture, merger and acquisition and licensing matters, including the creation of Aventis through a merger of Rhone-Poulenc and Hoechst. Schwab has also worked as an attorney in the Paris office of Freshfields, a leading English international law firm, and in the Palo Alto office of Cooley Godward. Schwab has an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and received his law degrees from UCLA and the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands. Schwab is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Schwab’s role is a newly created position at SCYNEXIS.
