Agilent Technologies Introduces Dual Loop Autosampler for HPLC Purification

PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 1, 2003 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the availability of the dual loop autosampler PS for the Agilent 1100 Series high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) purification platform. The autosampler provides flexible sample handling and high sample throughput in a compact design that conserves critical bench space. 

The new autosampler is designed for analytical to preparative scale purification for natural products research, combinatorial chemistry, medicinal chemistry, standards and reference preparation, and diluted sample handling. 

Because of its small footprint and stackable design, the autosampler requires much less laboratory space than typical instruments. It uses a "fixed loop" concept with two loop pre-installed (50 microliter and 5 milliliter, with others available) for flexibility in injection volumes. In addition the autosampler offers:

o a multi-draw function that provides larger sample volumes;

o capability to run different flow rates (up to 100 milliliters per minute) with fast injection of large volumes (up to 50 milliliters per minute) for increased throughput; 

o broad range of sample containers (well-plate and vials) based on well-plate format; and 

o a thermostatted version to prevent degradation of thermally labile samples.

The new autosampler can be operated through Agilent ChemStation with optional Agilent purification software for integrated instrument control, data evaluation and reporting; and with the handheld control module for online signal monitoring.

Based on Agilent's industry-leading HPLC system, the modular 1100 Series purification platform is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry for compound isolation and purification. It can be configured with a wide range of hardware and software modules to optimize recovery and purity for different sample quantities.
