Agilent Technologies Introduces Microarray Data Extraction Software Compatible with Any 1" x 3" Glass Slide Microarray
PALO ALTO, Calif., June 23, 2003 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced feature extraction software for use with the Agilent DNA Microarray Scanner that is compatible with any 1" x 3" slide microarray. Researchers can use Agilent's new Feature Extraction Software 7.1 to extract microarray data in less than 10 minutes per microarray, two to three times faster than with independent software packages. The software also includes the ability to export in MAGE ML format to the Rosetta ResolverŅ gene expression data analysis system and other data analysis software.

The high-throughput 48-slide Agilent DNA Microarray Scanner is used by more than 200 research facilities around the world. Previously, these facilities could scan third-party microarrays with the Agilent scanner, but they needed to extract such data with a separate feature extraction tool. The new software reduces the time required to extract microarray data by allowing researchers to process any mix of 1" x 3" slide microarrays scanned on the Agilent microarray scanner. The software increases confidence in results with advanced statistical models and algorithms that screen out false positives and false negatives.

"Agilent is enabling the industry-standard 1" x 3" glass slide microarray format, and the launch of our new Feature Extraction Software 7.1 reinforces our commitment to bring robust gene expression analysis tools to more researchers worldwide," said Barney Saunders, vice president and general manager, Agilent BioResearch Solutions Unit. "The software provides a high level of performance and ease of use with the ability to extract both Agilent and other microarrays in MAGE and other formats, as well as provide enhanced FTP data flow to Rosetta Resolver and other analysis systems."

Agilent now offers its Feature Extraction Software 7.1 with the 48-slide Agilent DNA Microarray Scanner as a combination system (G2565BA). Additional software user licenses are available for enabling offline analysis away from the system. A full day of on-site training by an Agilent application engineer is included.
