ExonHit Launches SpliceArray Service With GPCR And Ion Channel Microarrays Using Agilent Technologies' Microarray Platform

PARIS and PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 3, 2005 -- ExonHit Therapeutics, a private drug discovery company, and Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) today announced the launch of ExonHit's SpliceArray Service, which uses a new generation of microarrays developed with Agilent to detect alternative splicing in potential drug targets. In support of its launch of SpliceArray Service, ExonHit has become an Agilent Certified Service Provider.

The SpliceArray Service combines ExonHit's proprietary splice-variant content, patented probe design and customized analysis with Agilent-manufactured microarrays. The ExonHit-patented-design microarrays monitor the expression of alternatively spliced exons for disease-associated isoforms at a resolution previously unattainable by microarrays. Research services using G-Protein Coupled Receptor (GPCR) and Ion Channel microarrays are currently available from ExonHit; microarrays of other "druggable" gene families are expected to be available in the coming months.

Custom design services are also available from ExonHit that exclusively utilize its premier scientific and intellectual property position in alternative splicing. Agilent, a leader in the microarray industry, manufactures the microarrays using its highly flexible, in situ 60-mer oligonucleotide printing technology.

"There is a significant unmet need for research tools in alternative splicing," said Bruno Tocque, CEO, ExonHit Therapeutics. "ExonHit is extremely pleased to be the first to provide an alternative, splicing-based microarray service. SpliceArray Service is a novel service designed to help scientists uncover the complex relationship between gene expression and physiological function. By combining our expertise with Agilent's sensitive microarray-based solutions, we have created a high-performance platform yielding quality data for target discovery."

Agilent's designation of ExonHit as an Agilent Certified Service Provider validates ExonHit's ability to provide quality microarray processing and data analysis using Agilent microarrays. Agilent certification requires an in-depth training course and passing a rigorous set of laboratory assessments.

"In dealing with an Agilent Certified Service Provider, customers should feel confident that ExonHit is meeting some of the highest-quality standards in the industry," said John Jaskowiak, program manager at Agilent. "We are pleased to be their platform of choice."

About ExonHit Therapeutics

ExonHit Therapeutics is a privately-held company committed to advancing the treatment of serious diseases with unmet medical needs with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. ExonHit has discovered and developed in-house a clinical stage therapeutic pipeline using its unique drug discovery engine based on the analysis of alternative RNA splicing, an untouched area of biology. Alternative splicing is a crucial element of gene expression, which enables the expression of several proteins from a single gene. The analysis of alternative splicing provides a unique tool to efficiently and precisely identify novel targets for therapeutic intervention. In addition, ExonHit's profiling technology is utilized in broader applications by several external therapeutic and diagnostic collaborators. Founded in 1997, ExonHit is headquartered in Paris, France, and has a U.S. facility in Gaithersburg, Maryland. For more information, please visit us at www.exonhit.com.
