The Rottenstein Law Group, which represents clients with injuries allegedly resulting from their use of medical devices and prescription drugs including Actos, is helping to publicize a recently-published report that adds weight to the concern that Actos might cause patients to suffer sight problems.
Published in the June 11 online edition of the Archives of Internal Medicine, the report describes the findings of a research team led by Dr. Iskandar Idris, an associate professor in diabetes medicine at the University of Nottingham, HealthDay reports. The researchers followed more than 100,000 people in the British Health Improvement Network database with type 2 diabetes. According to the HealthDay story, patients who had received thiazolidinediones—a class of diabetes medications that includes Actos—were at two- to three-fold increased risk of developing macular edema, a swelling of the part of the eye that is responsible for sharp vision when looking straight ahead.
The Rottenstein Law Group urges anyone who has suffered vision impairment or any other adverse side effect—from Actos or any other drug—to speak to a qualified personal injury lawyer as soon as possible. The Rottenstein Law Group maintains an Actos Lawsuit Information Page at http://www.rotlaw.com/actos/. The Rottenstein Law Group's site has features that allow for easy sharing, including links for automatic posting on Facebook and Twitter, specifically to enable visitors to spread the word about the dangers of Actos.
