July 16th 2012: Seasoned business development manager Paul Herd, who will spearhead CSC Life Sciences’ regulatory solutions and services business development in Europe, brings 12 years’ experience in senior European roles in the pharmaceutical sector.

CSC Life Sciences, a leading provider of regulated business solutions for the life sciences industry, today announced the appointment of Paul Herd as business development executive.  Based at the company’s Aldershot offices in Hampshire in the U.K., Paul will lead CSC’s regulatory and clinical services in Europe

Paul joins CSC from clinical and regulatory solutions provider Octagon Research, where he was senior sales and marketing director for Europe. His role during his two years at Octagon included building the firm’s strategic European sales and marketing team as well as creating market visibility and increasing sales revenues for the company throughout Europe. Before that, he was director of European operations in the life sciences division of quality management solutions specialist MasterControl, having been brought in to establish a foothold for the company’s business operations in Europe.

Paul’s European business development credentials go back further still. Prior to joining MasterControl, he developed the European sales and marketing operation of Datafarm Inc., building it into a $2-million to $3-million business within three and a half years. He gained his initial grounding in and understanding of the pharmaceutical sector with Liquent, selling the company’s publishing products and services.

At CSC Life Sciences, Paul will be charged with continuing to expand the company’s already strong regulatory services business, leading the European Regulatory Services sales team to increase sales revenues and build closer relationships with CSC’s European clients. A particular asset will be his client-centric approach to client projects and emphasis on customer satisfaction—tenets that are at the core of CSC’s proposition.

Welcoming Paul into the fold, CSC Life Sciences sales director Fran Interrante said, “I know I speak for the whole team when I say I am delighted we are being joined by such a seasoned, well-respected and knowledgeable professional in the CSC Life Sciences business in Europe. Paul has a broad range of sales and business management expertise. This will be invaluable as CSC seeks to build on its substantial existing client base and to focus on delivering regulatory services solutions appropriate to the European Union market. Paul is widely known in the industry and has deep knowledge of the regulatory business function, and our company will be all the richer for his involvement.”

Commenting on his appointment, Paul said, “I am excited at undertaking the responsibility for extending the European regulatory services business for CSC. The global life sciences industry, as with many industries, is under extreme pressure to reduce resource costs but still maintain—and improve—productivity. CSC provides substantial regulatory experience and industry-leading technologies to help its clients meet their austerity challenges. Combined with its innovative approach to outsourcing, CSC is well positioned to deliver quality services at affordable prices.”
