GSK India Q2 results
The growing importance of emerging markets growth to pharma companies is demonstrated by the solid performance of GSK's Indian arm. While the parent company earlier (July 25th) reported turnover that was down 2% in the second quarter of 2012, its Indian arm has reported sales that were up 16% in the same quarter. Sales of vaccines and skin treatments are particularly strong in India, but GSK's consumer arm is also benefiting from strong sales of products like Horlicks drinks. Though India accounts for under 2% of GSK's total turnover, it (and China) leads the company's emerging markets growth, helping to offset the weakness of European markets
