Shamblott Family Dentistry, a Minneapolis-area family dental office run by Dr. Scott Shamblott, D.D.S., will once again participate in the international charitable event known as Dentistry From the Heart. This one-day event will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dentists at Shamblott Family Dentistry will see new patients who can't afford dental work, who are low-income, or who lack dental insurance, on a first-come, first served basis. Services provided are limited to fillings and extractions.

"Dentistry From the Heart gives people a reason to smile," said Dr. Shamblott. "We were looking for an opportunity to give back to the community. This is the best way that the dentists and staff at Shamblott Family Dentistry can help others. Dentistry From the Heart isn't just about free dental services. It's about offering people a helping hand when they need it most."

Shamblott Family Dentistry has donated an estimated $180,000 worth of dental services through Dentistry From the Heart since they began participating in 2007. Dentistry From the Heart is a global non-profit organization dedicated to providing free dental care to people in need. It was founded by dentist Dr. Vincent J. Monticciolo over 13 years ago in Tampa, Florida, and has since grown to a worldwide non-profit organization.

"It's hard to imagine that one day can make such a difference in someone’s life," said Dr. Shamblott. "But Dentistry From the Heart can be a life-changing event for adults and children. They generally have been suffering with pain for so long, with no means to get help. Through the volunteer efforts of our staff and others in the community, we can improve their life, one tooth at a time."

Individuals seeking dental care through Dentistry From the Heart are advised that services are offered on a first-come, first served basis. The event takes place at Shamblott Family Dentistry, 33 Tenth Avenue South, Suite 250 in Hopkins, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 and Lakeville Dental Associates from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dental services are limited to fillings and extractions only. All patients seeking dental services at Dentistry From the Heart should bring a list of medications they are taking and a state issued photo I.D. with them to the event.
