PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Sept. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the U.S. healthcare system grapples with value-based payment models, it is becoming increasingly important for hospitals to have a transparent, evidence-based value analysis process that manages costs while improving quality and outcomes.
In an effort to educate value analysis professionals about new approaches to assessing technology, ECRI Institute is launching a roadshow series, "Value Analysis: Best Practices for Navigating the Evidence Maze," to be held throughout the United States.
The first event takes place September 27, 2017, at ECRI Institute's headquarters and medical device testing laboratories in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Another event will be offered on November 2 at Cambridge Health Alliance's facility in Malden, MA. Other dates will be announced soon.
"Our members have been asking us to help them set up effective, evidence-based processes for evaluating health technologies and interventions. These free seminars will show value analysis professionals how to structure a program that puts patients at the center and engages physicians while making decisions based on the best available evidence," says Elke Nelson-Nichols, PhD, assistant director, strategic initiatives, Health Technology Assessment Information Service and ECRIgene™, ECRI Institute.
The three-hour program features educational presentations by ECRI Institute's unbiased health technology experts and invited panelists from hospital value analysis committees. The agenda focuses on how to use PICOTS (patients, intervention, comparators, outcomes, timeframe for follow-up, setting), an analytic framework that provides context for product requests.
Participants will discuss their biggest challenges, gain insight into best practices for value analysis, and see how price comparisons and functional equivalent data can bring better options to the table. ECRI Institute will also demonstrate its new content-rich workflow tool, ValuVu™.
"Integrating reliable, well-researched content and price benchmarks into a simple, easy-to-use workflow application can solve many of the hurdles value analysis professionals have had to navigate for years," says Timothy Browne, director, PriceGuide™ Advisory Service, ECRI Institute.
Healthcare organizations worldwide rely on ECRI Institute's nearly 50 years of experience delivering strategic, evidence-based technology management guidance from selection and purchasing to maintenance and replacement to help healthcare leaders achieve immediate cost savings without compromising patient care.
