Nonprofit Organization Distributes Cash Grants, Food, Medication and Other Critical Supplies

GreaterGood.org, an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization devoted to improving the health and well-being of people, pets, and the planet, is fulfilling critical needs for pets and people impacted by Hurricane Harvey and the organizations on the ground that are making a difference in recovery efforts. In addition to working with transport partners to move 1,000’s of shelter animals out of the affected area, GreaterGood.org has given cash grants, food and supply donations made to Harvey groups. The team is also sending supplies in advance to predicted impact areas of Hurricane Irma. In total, the organization will be awarding over $2 million worth of product and cash grants for both Hurricane Harvey and Irma.

Despite many members of its own team experiencing the impact of Harvey personally, GreaterGood.org’s Signature Program, Houston-based Rescue Bank, is providing a critical link between in-kind donors supporting storm relief and the organizations needing those products. The team will manage distribution of desperately needed items, including food, crates, litter, hard goods and veterinary medical products, provided by almost two dozen major brands and retailers. In the first few days of response, Rescue Bank has either shipped, received in its warehouses, or has scheduled to arrive enough pet food for one million meals along with other critical supplies.

“Our team, city and state was tested during Hurricane Harvey and we continue to recover from the devastation,” said Rescue Bank’s Executive Director Elizabeth Asher. “Yet we are inspired by the determination and passion of our team members during these difficult times to continue to serve the people and pets in need.”

In addition to these efforts, GreaterGood.org will be awarding cash grants and donated product for victims of Hurricane Irma. For a full list of efforts made possible by the GreaterGood.org team, the following link will be updated daily to reflect the ongoing donations: greatergood.org/harvey/
