Dick’s Sanitation, Troje’s Trash & Recycling and Walters Recycling & Refuse announced today they are giving customers a chance to “Curb Cancer” through one of two donation programs that will benefit the American Cancer Society and Angel Foundation.

Mendota Heights, MN (PRWEB) September 12, 2011

Dick’s Sanitation, Troje’s Trash & Recycling and Walters Recycling & Refuse announced today they are giving customers a chance to “Curb Cancer” through one of two donation programs that will benefit the American Cancer Society and Angel Foundation.

“There are few people whose lives haven’t been touched by cancer. The Curb Cancer Campaign is not only promoting awareness but helping fund emergency financial assistance for those battling cancer,” said DJ Troje, Owner of Troje’s Trash & Recycling.

Dick’s, Troje’s and Walters will immediately begin offering the Pink Cart™, a bright-pink waste cart supporting cancer awareness, to their customers throughout the Twin Cities metro area and surrounding communities. Five dollars from each Pink Cart delivered will support the local American Cancer Society’s breast cancer awareness programs.

“As a breast cancer survivor and an owner of a family-owned waste and recycling company, I am inspired by offering our customers this program,” said Debbie Nielsen, Vice President of Dick’s Sanitation, “It is because of organizations like the American Cancer Society and Angel Foundation that we are making strides.”

The Pink Cart displays the American Cancer Society’s powerful Making Strides Against Breast Cancer ribbon logo and the lid of each cart also displays early detection and health tips on a large in-mold label. The carts are made from 100-percent-recyclable plastic.

Michelle Shufelt, Event Specialist for the American Cancer Society in Mendota Heights, MN, says they will be hosting the September 15, 2011, 11 am, kickoff event for the Curb Cancer Campaign. Shufelt says, “We are excited to have beautiful trucks, pink carts and people at our location to celebrate this amazing group of waste haulers. Not only is our breast cancer awareness program strengthened by this campaign but we gain future partners.” For further information about ACS programs go to http://www.cancer.org.

All three companies are also offering an ongoing donation matching program. “We are getting involved to support not only those fighting cancer now, but those who will be diagnosed with cancer in the future,” said George Walter, Co-Owner of Walters Recycling & Refuse. Funds will go to Angel Foundation for emergency financial assistance.

“We are honored to be a partner and recipient of this special initiative,” said Vicki Stute, President of Angel Foundation. “The matching gift campaign will help us expand our emergency financial assistance to adults in our community in treatment for cancer. We are thankful for the visibility this will provide Angel Foundation so more families will know there is a place they can turn to for help when cancer strikes.” For further information about Angel Foundation go to http://www.mnangel.org.

The Pink Cart program (http://www.thepinkcart.com), developed by Cascade Cart Solutions in collaboration with the American Cancer Society®, enables households and businesses nationwide to make an important and visible demonstration of their support for the fight against breast cancer.
