Criterion™ XT precast gels have up to a 12-month shelf life.

CA, March 9, 2003 – Bio-Rad Laboratories has added to the
well-known benefits of the Criterion™ precast electrophoresis gel system
with the introduction of Criterion XT precast gels, featuring shelf lives of
12 months for Bis-Tris and 8 months for Tris-acetate formulations.
Both
can be stored at room temperature, freeing up refrigerator space and
eliminating concern about perishability.
“The
Criterion format is the most convenient, highest quality precast gel system
available,” observes Blanca Chang, Bio-Rad Senior Product Manger,
BioMaterials Division. “Now, researchers don’t have to worry about
grabbing an expired gel. Criterion XT gels stay fresh through the entire
supply chain.”
Criterion
XT gels share the benefits of the Criterion format, including the integrated
upper buffer chamber, fast run times, and a wide selection of comb styles
including an IPG well, IPG+1 (reference) well, 12+2 well, 18-well, 26-well
and Prep+2 well for a variety of single-dimension and 2-D electrophoresis
uses.
Criterion
XT gels are formulated at near-neutral pH to ensure long, stable shelf life
and better protein stability – ideal for downstream applications such as
protein sequencing and mass spectrometry.
The
system features optimized sample and running buffers for sharp bands and
minimal preparation time. Researchers can choose among three buffer systems
for flexibility in protein separations.
Compared
to other mini formats, the Criterion system provides 60% more resolving area
in the first dimension and 24% more resolving area in the second dimension.
