Chiracon GmbH joins exclusive circle of Startup-Partners
Berlin/Luckenwalde (June 5, 2003) - In mid-May Chiracon GmbH, which is specialised in novel raw and starting materials for high-value pharmaceuticals, has joined the exclusive circle of Berlin's "Startup-Partners". For the next two years the Company that is based in Luckenwalde, just to the south of the capital, will be a member of 'Partner für Berlin Gesellschaft für Hauptstadt-Marketing mbH', the central capital marketing agency for Berlin. Chiracon was selected for its successful market position in the area of chiral compounds.
The election panel consisting of representatives from three banks, a venture capitalist, three consultants/auditors, the 'Existenzgründer-Institut Berlin e.V.', the Chambers of Commerce and 'Partner für Berlin' has chosen Chiracon, together with 9 other companies as "Startup Partners", from 30 candidates from Berlin and Brandenburg. The elected companies will have the opportunity to use high-profile events to meet-up with decision-makers from politics, industry, research and society to tie new networks and to intensify and broaden existing links.
In order to be eligible as a "Startup Partner" companies have to be owner-managed, and be operational for more than one but less than five years. Companies have to be innovative and technology-oriented, be already successfully present on the marketplace, and they have to be seated in Berlin or Brandenburg.

Chiracon GmbH set up in 1999 south of Berlin holds a rich portfolio of novel methods and techniques for the production of chiral molecules as raw and starting material for high-value pharmaceuticals. The company which is currently based in Luckenwalde, Brandenburg, just to the south of Berlin, has recently received venture capital from the Berlin Seed Capital Fund. Dr. Ralf Zuhse, laureate of the "Gründerchampion des Landes Brandenburg"-price (Start-up Champion Brandenburg Award), will use the newly raised VC funds and the turnover generated by the company's operations for the expansion of the production, the establishment of effective marketing and sales structures as well as intensified research and development activities.
