Cytomyx announces the acquisition of Cambridge BioScience

6^th November 2002, Cambridge, UK – Cytomyx (AIM: CYX), the Pharmaceutical Research Products and Services company, announced today that on 14^th October 2002 it acquired Cambridge BioScience, also based in Cambridge, UK. Cambridge BioScience (founded in 1984) is a leading distributor of life science research products. Its key areas of activity are in the areas of molecular biology, cell biology, immunology and drug metabolism research, in which it distributes products for 22 predominantly US based companies, including Gentest, Molecular Probes, Gene Therapy Systems and Zymed Laboratories.

The acquisition of Cambridge BioScience affords numerous strategic benefits for Cytomyx. Chief among these is providing Cytomyx with a channel for a new range of products that are currently under development.  Cambridge BioScience has an extensive and expanding customer base, and this will enhance Cytomyx’ ability to sell into the rapidly growing life science market segment.  The new Cytomyx products are a natural extension to those currently being sold by Cambridge BioScience.

The joining of Cytomyx and Cambridge BioScience will create an organisation capable of delivering the tools for almost any life science research application.
