DNA Research Innovations publishes its new expanded range of CST products in a new catalogue

Sittingbourne , UK . 3rd August, 2004 …..  DNA Research Innovations Ltd. (DRI), an innovator in nucleic acid purification technologies, has announced the publication of a new catalogue for its range of ChargeSwitch® Technology (CST®) products. The catalogue includes a significant expansion of the CST® product range with new CST® kits available to meet a wide range of manual and fully automated requirements.

DRI’s proprietary ChargeSwitch® Technology differs from other commercially available nucleic acid purification technologies in that it avoids the introduction of known PCR inhibitors, such as alcohols, concentrated chaotropic salts or organic solvents. As a consequence, CST® purified DNA has been demonstrated to provide a measurable improvement in enzyme-based downstream reaction performance, including longer sequencing read lengths. The rapid CST® based protocols minimise the use of centrifugation and can usually be performed in a single tube. The extension of the product range will enable more researchers to benefit from the advantages associated with this technology and allow them to transition from existing methodologies unsuited for the application-driven requirements of today’s scientists.

Commenting on the publication of the catalogue, Simon Douglas, CEO of DNA Research Innovations said:
”The publication of our first catalogue highlights the Company’s progress over recent months and is a reflection of the demand for ChargeSwitch® Technology kits. We now offer a full range of products for basic and applied research, as well as specialist niche areas, including genotyping, forensics and high throughput sample processing. The data we are generating supports CST® as a novel and genuine improvement on existing nucleic acid purification methods and the diversification in the
CST® range means we are now able to offer the benefits of our technology to more customers than ever before.”

The new catalogue includes nearly twice the number of kits previously available, with new applications including endotoxin reduced plasmid purification and RNA purification. Amongst the new kits included in the catalogue are the CST® MiniPrep Kit (Endotoxin Reduced), CST® Genomic DNA Purification Kit (Bacteria), CST® RNA Purification Kit (Cells) and the CST® RNA Purification Kit (Micro-Tissue).

Notes for editors:

DNA Research Innovations Ltd (DRI) is dedicated to the innovative development of novel, high performance nucleic acid extraction technologies that meet the evolving and exacting needs of its customers. The Company has two proprietary technologies for nucleic acid purification, called ChargeSwitch® Technology (CST®) and GeneCatcher™ Technology (GCT™).

CST® uses a novel switchable surface charge that allows reliable extraction of pure DNA and RNA from a range of sample types. By avoiding the use of potential contaminating reagents, such as ethanol, concentrated chaotropic salts and organic solvents, it purifies highly pure DNA with a reduced risk of reaction inhibition in sensitive downstream applications.

DNA Research Innovations is an independent venture capital funded company based in Sittingbourne , Kent , UK . For more information, please visit www.dri-dna.co.uk.
